Kyushu Exclusive! FamilyMart’s Noodle Festival Finale: Kagoshima Ramen and Fried Udon with Offal

Japanese convenience stores (Konbini) are more than just retail shops. They are hubs of food trends where you can easily enjoy authentic gourmet meals.

FamilyMart, a major convenience store chain with locations all over Japan, has been conducting a project to introduce the noodle culture of the “Kyushu Region” located in the southern part of Japan.

This “Kyushu Noodle Tour Fair,” which has continued for about half a year since September 2025, will conclude with the 6th installment of products to be released on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Decorating the finale are two items: “Kagoshima Ramen,” created with a strict focus on soup and ingredients, and “Fried Udon with Offal,” which received enthusiastic support during its previous sale.

Here is an introduction to these confident creations that serve as the culmination of the fair, sold exclusively at approximately 1,500 stores in the Kyushu region (Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, Kagoshima) and parts of Yamaguchi Prefecture.

“Double Char Siu! Kagoshima Ramen” Scented with Scorched Green Onion Oil

First to note is the new creation developed specifically for this fair, “Double Char Siu! Kagoshima Ramen.”

Kagoshima Ramen generally features a gentle flavor blended from pork bones (Tonkotsu) and chicken bones (Torigara), as well as slightly thicker noodles. For this product, the savory aroma of the soup has been particularly pursued.

The soup uses a base of pork and chicken bones combined with “Kaeshi” (seasoning sauce) original to Kagoshima ramen specialty shops. By adding “scorched green onion oil” to this, an appetizingly savory flavor was produced. A major highlight is how well this savoriness is reproduced in a microwave-heated Konbini ramen.

The “Double Char Siu” in the product name refers to two slices of roasted pork fillet. By topping it with two different types of Char Siu, it is a luxurious specification where you can enjoy the contrast in meat textures. The price is 598 yen (approx. 4.10 USD), and achieving this volume at this price is a pleasing point for meat lovers.

  • Product Name: Double Char Siu! Kagoshima Ramen
  • Price: 554 yen (598 yen including tax)
  • Release Date: February 3, 2026 (Tuesday)
  • Region: Kyushu Region, Yamaguchi Prefecture (select stores)
  • Features: Blended pork and chicken bone soup, scorched green onion oil, two types of Char Siu

Back by Popular Demand: “Fried Udon with Offal in Sweet and Spicy Sauce”

The other item is “Fried Udon with Offal in Sweet and Spicy Sauce,” revived in response to calls for its return.

This product is a menu item that received very high ratings when it was released in the 3rd installment of the fair in November 2025.

Motivated by “Fried Udon” (Yaki-udon), said to have originated in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, it is a stamina-filled dish combining “Horumon” (Beef or Pork Offal), a food ingredient beloved in Kyushu.

The deciding factor of the taste is the sweet and spicy sauce that entangles the thick udon noodles. The offal ingredients are firmly seasoned with a sweet sauce featuring Miso and Garlic.

The style of savoring the rich umami of the offal with udon, along with the crunchy texture of bean sprouts and green onions, is perfect not only for lunch but also as an appetizer for alcohol such as beer.

  • Product Name: Fried Udon with Offal in Sweet and Spicy Sauce
  • Price: 510 yen (550 yen including tax)
  • Release Date: February 3, 2026 (Tuesday)
  • Region: Kyushu Region, Yamaguchi Prefecture (select stores)
  • Features: Arrangement of Kitakyushu-style fried udon, Miso-Garlic flavored offal, sweet and spicy sauce

Set Purchase Campaign Concluding the Half-Year “Noodle Tour”

To coincide with the release of these new products, a value point redemption campaign will also be held.

In Japanese convenience stores, discounts or point awards are often given when buying specific foods and drinks as a set.

This time, the cooking noodles from the “Kyushu Noodle Tour Fair” and Suntory’s green tea “Iyemon Mainichi Sukoyaka Koi Ryokucha 600ml” are eligible. If you purchase these as a set and present the FamilyMart official app “FamiPay” at the register, points equivalent to 100 yen will be returned at a later date.

The proposal to match rich-tasting ramen or fried udon with “Koi Ryokucha” (Dark Green Tea) is a combination that makes sense when considering the balance of flavors.

The period is from the release date, February 3, 2026, to March 2.

  • Campaign Period: February 3, 2026 (Tuesday) – March 2 (Monday)
  • Conditions: Purchase eligible noodle products and “Iyemon Mainichi Sukoyaka Koi Ryokucha 600ml” as a set and present the app
  • Benefits: 100 yen equivalent FamiPay bonus return

Finale Hype on In-Store Signage

Furthermore, at stores in the Kyushu region (excluding Okinawa Prefecture) equipped with “FamilyMartVision” digital signage, an original video for this fair will be broadcast.

The period is for two weeks from February 3 to February 16. A special 15-second video will be played 6 times per hour.

While choosing products in the store, seeing footage of delicious-looking noodles will likely further stimulate your appetite. From this media rollout, it is clear that FamilyMart is putting effort into the conclusion of this project.

The “Kyushu Noodle Tour Fair,” which has continued since September 2025, comes to a close with this.

This project has continued to express the depth of Kyushu’s noodle culture in the familiar setting of a convenience store. The Kagoshima Ramen and Fried Udon with Offal that decorate the end are products with “rich” individuality worthy of the finale.

If you visit the Kyushu or Yamaguchi area during this period, please check the taste at a nearby FamilyMart.
