The Story of “Soshi-Soai”: A Word from the Developer
Behind this much-anticipated comeback was the passionate dedication of its developer.
Mr. Hiroyuki Maruko of the Ice Cream Planning Division shares the story behind its development.
“To be honest, the past pudding flavor was incredibly popular, and we received so many passionate requests from customers saying, ‘Bring back the pudding flavor!’ and ‘Next time, we want to try an ultra-rich Soh pudding!'”
The term “Soshi-Soai” (a wordplay on mutual love, incorporating the brand name Soh) was coined to signify the mutual affection between the brand (Soh) and its fans (the customers).
This ‘Zeitaku Noumitsu Pudding’ was developed with the sole desire to meet the expectations of those fans.
Mr. Maruko suggests December, the end of the year, as the perfect time to enjoy this ice cream.
He explains that it was designed to be a “little reward” (gohoubi) for those moments at the year’s end when, after many busy days, you want to treat yourself and think, “I really worked hard this year.”
Despite its rich flavor, the aftertaste is crisp and clean, thanks to the signature fine ice crystals unique to Soh.
This luxurious feeling of being “rich but not heavy” is especially enjoyable when eaten in a warm room during winter.
