Lawson, one of Japan’s leading convenience store chains (konbini), will begin releasing special drinks and design cups across Japan starting March 3, 2026, to celebrate the arrival of spring.
The highlights of this release are the new “Sakura Latte” and “Sakura Latte Smoothie” from “MACHI café+,” available only at select locations. Additionally, “Machi Café,” the freshly brewed coffee service available at Lawson stores nationwide, will feature limited-edition cups with four different charming spring-themed illustrations.

“Sakura Latte” and “Sakura Latte Smoothie” with Spring Fragrance Launch at Select Stores
“MACHI café+” is a premium service offered only at specific Lawson stores staffed by “Fantasistas”—top-level staff members recognized for their exceptional knowledge and customer service skills. Starting March 3, 2026, two types of drinks themed around the iconic Japanese “Sakura” (Cherry Blossom) will be available.

1. “Sakura Latte”: A Floral Blend of Cherry Blossoms and Strawberries
The “Sakura Latte” is a café latte characterized by the gentle sweetness of milk made from 100% fresh Japanese raw milk.
A special sauce with a light sakura fragrance is combined with strawberry pulp sauce to create an exquisite balance of spring-like sweet and tart flavors. The pink sakura powder topped on the drink evokes the image of cherry blossoms in full bloom.
- Product Name: Sakura Latte
- Release Date: Tuesday, March 3, 2026
- Price: 380 yen (approx. $2.50 / tax included)
- Availability: Stores featuring MACHI café+
2. “Sakura Latte Smoothie”: A Decadent Dessert-Style Treat
For those looking for a more indulgent experience, the “Sakura Latte Smoothie” is highly recommended.
Based on strawberry pulp sauce, condensed milk, and fresh cream, it is blended with slightly bitter espresso. This drink features a complex depth of flavor where sweetness, acidity, and bitterness overlap. Its appearance is also quite stunning, looking like a Japanese spring landscape concentrated into a single cup.
- Product Name: Sakura Latte Smoothie
- Release Date: Tuesday, March 3, 2026
- Price: 480 yen without whipped cream (approx. $3.20 / tax included) / 500 yen with whipped cream (approx. $3.30 / tax included)
- Availability: Stores featuring MACHI café+
For an additional 20 yen (approx. $0.13), you can add whipped cream, which creates a beautiful aesthetic reminiscent of cherry blossom petals dancing over white clouds.
Brighten Your Daily Coffee with “Spring Illustration Cups”
The hot drink cups for “Machi Café,” available at Lawson stores throughout Japan, will switch to limited-edition “Spring Illustration Designs” starting March 3.

There are four designs in total, featuring spring landscapes rendered with a soft, artistic touch. These designs are available for hot drinks in S, M, L, and Mega sizes. In Japanese convenience stores, these seasonal limited-edition cups are very popular, making an ordinary coffee break feel a little more special.
- Release Date: Starting Tuesday, March 3, 2026 (sequential)
- Applicable Sizes: Machi Café Hot S, M, L, and Mega sizes
- Note: Available while supplies last at each store.
What is “MACHI café+”? A Unique Premium Experience
“MACHI café+” is an authentic café service that stands apart from standard convenience store coffee.
Expert staff members known as “Fantasistas,” who are only found at selected stores, carefully handcraft each drink one by one after receiving an order.

The menu features high-quality items such as smoothies made with fresh bananas and specialty coffee made from beans ground on the spot. You might even find a handwritten message on your cup, reflecting the spirit of Japanese “Omotenashi” (hospitality).
