That character has returned to the shelves of Japan’s convenience stores, commonly known as “Konbini,” again this year! From the popular “Boku Beer Kimi Beer” craft beer series, the winter classic “Joker-kun” will be released on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, exclusively at Lawson stores across Japan. It looks to be a special bottle that will brighten up the year-end and New Year party season.
To commemorate this release, a campaign with luxurious prizes will also be held. This winter, you won’t be able to take your eyes off this beer featuring a unique frog character.
The Highly-Anticipated Return! “Boku Beer Kimi Beer Joker-kun”
The much-awaited “Boku Beer Kimi Beer Joker-kun” is making its grand appearance again this year among fans. The special, sparkling packaging is perfect for the festive holiday table.
This beer’s style is a “Session IPA.” A familiar style for craft beer lovers, it features a slightly lower alcohol content while allowing you to fully enjoy the aroma of hops. It boasts a gorgeous and profound aroma reminiscent of citrus and tropical fruits, with a very light and juicy taste. Its pleasant drinkability makes you want to have cup after cup.
The package features Joker-kun grinning with the message “I’m BACK.” It will be the perfect companion for Christmas dinner or when you want to relax and enjoy the evening. It’s an easy recommendation for those trying craft beer for the first time. The price is 328 yen (including tax) at Lawson’s standard price.
The Classic “Boku Beer Kimi Beer” Also Gets a Winter Makeover
To celebrate the return of “Joker-kun,” the series’ classic “Boku Beer Kimi Beer” will also be available in special limited-edition packaging.
To liven up the year-end and New Year’s table, this one also features a design where the familiar frog character is dressed up. Placing it next to Joker-kun will make your table even more festive and gorgeous.
This beer style is “Saison.” A style originating from Belgium, it is characterized by a fruity, lemon-like citrus aroma and a refreshing taste. Truly deserving of the name “THE Refreshing Beer,” this is also a special beer available only at Lawson. The currently available regular version will be gradually switched to this limited-edition package starting Tuesday, December 16th. It will end as soon as it runs out, so be sure to pick it up if you see it. The price is 311 yen (including tax) at Lawson’s standard price.
Craft Beer at a Konbini? The Story Behind It
“Boku Beer Kimi Beer” was the convenience store industry’s first original craft beer, jointly developed in 2014 by beer maker Yo-Ho Brewing and Lawson of Japan. At the time, there was a partial image in Japan that “beer is a drink for the older generation.” This series was born with the aim of overturning that image and proposing new ways for the younger generation to enjoy beer. The unique flavor design and the adorable character packaging that makes you want to pick it up have brought a new breeze to Japan’s beer culture.
