Lawson’s Year-End Treat! The Lavish “Reward Gourmet Fair” Starts December 9th

image

Lawson in Japan is holding a slightly extravagant “Reward Gourmet Fair,” a perfect way to cap off 2025, starting on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. In Japan, December is called “Shiwasu,” a time when everyone gets busy. During these hectic days, why not soothe your mind and body with some easily accessible gourmet treats from your local convenience store?

Themed “Let’s Eat What You Love!,” this fair features a wide lineup of products made with luxurious ingredients, perfect as a reward for yourself after a year of hard work. Japanese convenience stores, commonly known as “conbini,” are known not just as general stores but also as places that offer high-quality meals, and this fair looks set to further enhance that appeal.

Special products will be available in various categories, from bento boxes to onigiri and sandwiches, at Lawson stores across Japan (excluding some locations). You can find more details in the Lawson Research Institute News.

A Luxurious Lineup from the Fair

Here’s a look at some of the standout products from the “Reward Gourmet Fair.” Each one is packed with a level of quality and attention to detail you wouldn’t expect from a convenience store product.

Salmon and Ikura (Salmon Roe) Bento

image

First up is a luxurious bento box featuring salmon and ikura, a beloved combination on the Japanese dinner table. Two types of salmon—a fillet of red salmon and carefully flaked grilled salmon—are placed on top of the rice, and then topped with glistening soy-sauce-marinated ikura (salmon roe).

In Japan, the combination of salmon and its roe is incredibly popular, often called an “oyako” (parent-and-child) duo. Being able to enjoy this high-end combination so easily in a convenience store bento is truly a year-end treat. The price is 538 yen (tax included).

“Gu!” Onigiri: Just Like an Ebi Tendon

Next is a new addition to the “Gu! Onigiri” (Loaded! Onigiri) series, which is known for its stunning visual impact. Onigiri (rice balls) are a quintessential Japanese fast food, but this product turns that convention on its head.

It boldly features two whole shrimp tempura with their tails on, making it, as the name suggests, as satisfying as eating a tendon (a bowl of rice topped with tempura) in onigiri form. The addition of sweet pickled ginger to change up the flavor midway is a thoughtful detail characteristic of Japanese food culture. The price is 354 yen (tax included).

Roast Beef & Egg Sandwich

The sandwich category also gets a special item for this fair. The star of the show is the moist and tender roast beef, generously packed between slices of bread.

Its partner is none other than a truffle-scented egg salad. The rich aroma of the truffle enhances the umami of the roast beef, creating an incredibly luxurious flavor. This is one item that will surely surprise you with the high level of Japanese convenience store sandwiches. The price is 538 yen (tax included). Please note that it will not be sold in the Okinawa area.

“Kobore Nokke” Overflowing Topping Sushi

In terms of visual splendor, this might be the top product. “Kobore Nokke Sushi” is, as its name implies, a thin sushi roll topped with so much shrimp and ikura that it’s overflowing.

The shari (sushi rice) is made not with standard rice vinegar, but with akazu (red vinegar). Red vinegar is often used in the traditional style of Edomae-sushi and is known for its mellow acidity and deep, rich flavor. It’s a wonderful time to be alive when you can enjoy authentic akazu-shari sushi at a convenience store. The price is 538 yen (tax included).

Shanghai-Style Yakisoba with Shrimp

If you’re in the mood for Chinese food, this yakisoba (fried noodles) is for you. A satisfying dish generously topped with an incredible 10 shrimp.

The Shanghai-style seasoning is based on oyster sauce, a type of Chinese soy sauce, and fragrant sesame oil. Yakisoba, a popular home-cooked meal in Japan, is elevated into a luxurious seafood dish. The price is 646 yen (tax included), and this item is also not available in the Okinawa area.

“Manmaru” Round Chicken & Hamburg Steak Bento

For those craving a hearty meat dish, this bento from Lawson’s in-store kitchen, “Machikado Chubo,” is the perfect choice.

It features two main stars that meat lovers will adore: juicy “manmaru” round chicken with a garlic tomato sauce, and a classic Western-style hamburg steak with demi-glace sauce. A key appeal of “Machikado Chubo” is that the food is cooked in-store, so you can enjoy it warm and fresh. The price is 797 yen (tax included).
