FamilyMart, a major convenience store chain in Japan, has announced a new private brand called “Blue Green” that is kind to both the planet and our bodies. This groundbreaking project aims to promote a sustainable lifestyle through products made with environmentally friendly materials and plant-based ingredients.
Based on the concept of “Gentle ingredients. Delicious taste. A future you’ll love,” this project aims to create positive change starting from the convenience store, a place closest to our daily lives.
The “Blue Green” Project: Born from the Sea and the Forest
The name “Blue Green” comes from FamilyMart’s iconic corporate colors, which evoke images of the sea (blue) and the forest (green). A beautiful blend of these two colors, a shade of blue-green, serves as the project’s symbol.
This initiative will feature a wide range of environmentally and health-conscious products, from food to daily necessities. The food lineup will include menu items that replace animal-based ingredients like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy with plant-based alternatives. For daily goods, the collection will offer items that contribute to reducing plastic waste, such as reusable cutlery.

Japanese convenience stores are more than just retail outlets; they are an essential infrastructure deeply rooted in many people’s lives. This move to promote sustainability from such a familiar place is gathering significant attention within Japan.
