The fusion of Japanese pop culture and convenience stores is generating new excitement once again. Starting Friday, December 12, 2025, the Japanese convenience store chain Lawson will kick off an official collaboration campaign with the massively popular browser game “Kantai Collection -KanColle-“. This event was planned as a support operation to coincide with an official event held in the Yokosuka Naval District area, a key setting in the game.
“KanColle” is a simulation game where players collect, train, and strengthen “Kanmusu”—personified “fleet girls” modeled after World War II warships—with the goal of creating an invincible combined fleet. Given its world, real-life locations with ties to the former Japanese Navy, especially Yokosuka, are special places for fans, almost like “sacred sites.” This collaboration welcomes the “Admirals” (the title for KanColle players) visiting Yokosuka and Uraga, transforming three select Lawson stores into limited-time strategic hubs with special decorations to liven up the city.
The operation will run for approximately two weeks, from 10:00 AM on Friday, December 12 to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 26. During this period, participating stores will feature an advance sale of exclusive merchandise. The interiors will also be decorated with special “KanColle”-themed “nobori” (long, vertical flags commonly seen on Japanese streets) and posters, creating a festive atmosphere.
