On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, a new bento series will debut at FamilyMart stores nationwide in Japan. The theme is “texture.” It features four types of “Egg Bento” that perfect a “fluffy” and “melty” texture.

Typically, egg dishes in convenience store bento tend to become hard when reheated in the microwave. However, this new product solves that problem. The new TV commercial features popular actress Rikako Yagi. Her unique performance, where she bursts out of an eggshell, is also drawing attention.

This new product embodies FamilyMart’s corporate slogan, “More Delicious.”The lineup ranges from authentic menus supervised by famous restaurants to classic omelet rice. The commercial featuring Rikako Yagi, titled “A Delicious New Arrival! Fluffy and Melt-in-Your-Mouth Egg Bento,” will also air starting on the release date.

Unique CM Featuring Rikako Yagi Emerging from an “Eggshell”

The new TV commercial features Rikako Yagi. With the sound “Crackle… Pop!”, a giant eggshell breaks open. Then, Ms. Yagi emerges from the light. This visual effect represents the product’s characteristic “fluffy texture”.

In the commercial, Yagi tastes the new “Osaka Ohsho Supervised Tianjin Fried Rice” and “MOKUBAZA Supervised Keema Curry.” Her expression changes in sync with the textures described—”fluffy” and “creamy”—as she takes her first bites. Her reactions convey the deliciousness more powerfully than any dialogue.

The final scene features a visual effect where she appears to float softly within the shell. This embodies the product’s soft, gentle worldview.Ms. Yagi herself discussed this scene in an interview.

Behind-the-Scenes: Ms. Rikako Yagi Talks About Her “Love for Eggs”

In a post-shoot interview, Yagi reflected, “It was a delicious shoot.” She explained she was particular about ensuring the eggs looked beautiful right up until the moment they landed on the spoon. The most challenging scenes were the opening where she appears after cracking the eggshell and the final floating scene.

“It was tough adjusting my posture to the wind and movement, but we captured some incredibly beautiful shots,” Yagi shared. Even during the eating scenes, she carefully crafted subtle expressions to match each flavor.

Among the four products, the one that surprised Yagi the most was the “Fluffy Egg Tianjin Fried Rice.” “It wasn’t overly sweet, and you could really taste the savory umami of the broth. The eggs were fluffy and creamy—it was truly delicious,” she answered with a smile. That a convenience store Tianjin rice dish could be so highly praised for its broth’s umami and the texture of its eggs is proof of its high quality.

Yagi’s Passion for Eggs

The interview also revealed details about Yagi’s daily diet and her dedication to eggs. Her specialty dish is “Tamagoyaki (Japanese Rolled Omelette)”. She mentioned that after practicing a scene for a drama where she cracked eggs with one hand, she started making it daily and improved her skills.

An interesting quiz revealed her preference: “Sweet or salty tamagoyaki?” She answered without hesitation, “Salty.” “The traditional style is to season with salt, not sugar,” she explained. The variety of home-style flavors is one of the fascinating aspects of Japanese cuisine.

When asked, “If you could choose your last egg dish, what would it be?” she selected omurice. “If I could eat a runny omurice at the end, I think I could finish with a happy feeling,” she commented.

FamilyMart’s new “Tamago Bento” series really emphasizes texture. The release date is Tuesday, January 20, 2026. The omurice version launches the following week on Tuesday, January 27. Enjoy warm, fluffy, and creamy egg dishes during the cold season. When visiting Japan, be sure to check out the bento section at FamilyMart.
