FamilyMart, one of Japan’s leading convenience store chains, is set to launch “Mochitto Pasta,” a new pasta series with a completely new texture, starting sequentially from Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The most distinctive feature of this series is, without question, the “mochi-mochi” or chewy and springy elasticity of the noodles. The lineup features four attractive varieties, including a special dish supervised by Chef Tsutomu Ochiai from the renowned Italian restaurant ‘LA BETTOLA da Ochiai’ in Ginza, Tokyo.
In recent years, “shokkan,” or food texture, has become a key point of focus in Japan for determining how delicious a dish is. To meet this trend, FamilyMart Japan has re-evaluated its pasta from the foundational wheat flour, developing new noodles that maintain their elasticity to the last bite. These 1.6mm thick noodles are excellent for holding sauce and provide a wonderfully satisfying eating experience.
First Wave: Launching Tuesday, December 2
Tomato Pasta with Egg and Cheese, Supervised by Chef Tsutomu Ochiai

The first to debut is a special dish supervised by Chef Tsutomu Ochiai from ‘LA BETTOLA da Ochiai,’ one of the most notoriously difficult-to-book Italian restaurants in Japan.
The sauce for this pasta is built on a base of four different tomato ingredients, basil, and a secret touch of “miso,” a traditional Japanese seasoning. This gives the sauce exceptional depth and richness. It comes topped with four kinds of cheese and a fried egg, creating a flavor that is both authentic and comfortingly familiar.
The price is 554 yen (598 yen with tax), and it will be available at FamilyMart stores across Japan starting Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
Chef Ochiai comments, “It’s characterized by the vibrant flavor of the tomato sauce, the deep richness of the cheese, and the lingering aroma of basil and miso. Breaking the fried egg and mixing it with the chewy ‘mochitto’ noodles reveals a completely different character. It’s a dish that will make you smile, so I hope you’ll give it a try.”
Famima the Carbonara

From FamilyMart’s premium line, ‘Famima the Series,’ comes a long-awaited new Carbonara.
This dish prides itself on a rich sauce that highlights the deep flavor of eggs and cheese. A generous amount of bacon, Parmesan cheese, and an accent of black pepper make it incredibly appetizing. Carbonara from Japanese convenience stores is already known for its high quality, and this one is expected to live up to that reputation.
It also launches on Tuesday, December 2, priced at 462 yen (498 yen with tax).
Second Wave: Launching Tuesday, December 9
Famima the Meat Sauce

Starting Tuesday, December 9, two more varieties will be introduced as the second wave.
The first is a renewal of FamilyMart’s perennially popular “Meat Sauce.” It has evolved to have a deeper, richer flavor, featuring the taste of tomato and the richness of demi-glace sauce. The umami from the meat is also distinct, delivering a classic and dependable deliciousness.
The price is 462 yen (498 yen with tax).
Peperoncino with Egg

The second is the somewhat unique “Peperoncino with Egg.”
This dish combines a peperoncino, seasoned with the umami of consommé and “dashi” (a traditional Japanese soup stock), with a mellow egg sauce. The addition of creaminess to the punchy garlic flavor creates a taste that might just get you hooked.
It is priced at 510 yen (550 yen with tax).
When you visit a convenience store in Japan, why not try this new “Mochitto Pasta” series? You can experience an authentic taste that rivals restaurants, all at an affordable price.
