A luxurious new chocolate, perfect for winter, is making its debut at convenience stores across Japan. Confectionery maker Lotte is launching two new types of large truffle chocolates from its “Premium Ghana” series on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

This series is built on the concept of “specialty chocolate shop quality that’s readily available,” making it easy to enjoy high-quality flavors. The new additions are the “Premium Ghana Large Truffles ” and the “Premium Ghana Large Truffles .” They will be sold exclusively at convenience stores and station kiosks (eki-baiten) nationwide in Japan.

In Japan, treating oneself to a “small luxury” amidst a busy daily life has become a trend. Seasonal sweets are especially popular, enjoyed as a way to refresh and unwind. These new truffles are the perfect treat for such moments.

Packaged in a convenient pouch, they are easy to enjoy at the office or on the go. The price is open, but the suggested retail price is around 516 yen each (tax included).

Premium Ghana Large Truffles <Hazelnut & Almond>

A must-try for nut lovers, this is the <Hazelnut & Almond> truffle.

Its most distinct feature is a whole, large hazelnut at its center. This is enveloped by aromatic almond crunch and the signature smooth, melt-in-your-mouth Ghana chocolate.

With one bite, you can enjoy the firm texture of the hazelnut and the crispiness of the almond crunch simultaneously. The rich flavor of the two nuts and the deep taste of Ghana chocolate spread throughout your mouth, creating a luxurious harmony. It’s a satisfying, large truffle where the fragrance of nuts and the sweetness of chocolate are perfectly matched.

Premium Ghana Large Truffles <Sablé & Feuillantine>

The other new flavor is the <Sablé & Feuillantine>, which offers the delightful texture of baked confections.

This truffle features a sablé (a type of French shortbread cookie) made with cultured butter, coated in Ghana chocolate infused with browned butter. The outside is then carefully dusted with feuillantine (finely crushed, thin crepes).

The crumbly texture of the sablé and the light, crispy feel of the feuillantine create a delightful accent within the smooth chocolate. The rich aroma and depth of the cultured butter, combined with the intense flavor of the browned-butter Ghana chocolate, deliver a sophisticated taste experience reminiscent of a dessert from a specialty shop.

If you find them in a Japanese convenience store, be sure to try this special seasonal treat. They are also perfect for enjoying with a warm drink at the end of a long day.
