This bento features the classic Makunouchi style, a staple at Japanese convenience stores and train stations. A beloved tradition in Japan, Makunouchi bento offers a white rice base paired with a colorful variety of side dishes. Along with the main grilled coho salmon, this box is packed with vegetable kakiage (crispy onion and carrot tempura), gently simmered vegetables in a savory broth, a potato croquette, kinpira gobo (sweet and savory stir-fried burdock root), and a slice of slightly sweet Japanese rolled omelet.
